Rosby Art, Wines & Stay
In each glass of red, every hand-crafted room, every locally sourced morsel, and each artistic flourish, is the beautiful, earthy, and wholly contagious Rosby way of life.
Surrounded by a verdant olive grove and gently sloping rows of vines under ever-changing skies, Rosby Wines has to have one of Mudgee’s most spectacular and inviting cellar doors. Long-time collectors and patrons of the arts and winemakers since 1996, the Norton-Knights have established a magnificent garden where visitors can come and take in the views and soak up the surrounds over a glass of Rosby wine. Dotted with sculptures both from their own collection and for sale, Kay and Gerry have successfully blended their love of the arts and talent for producing some of Mudgee’s best wines in this remarkable space, with exhibitions from a range of emerging and established artists taking place over the year.
Rosby Cellar Door and Sculpture Garden is open weekends 10am-4pm, or during the week by appointment for guided sculpture tours with Kay, and private wine tastings with Gerry. Phone 0419 429 918.
Rosby’s passion for the arts is evident in its calendar of carefully curated art workshops for serious artists and hobbyists alike. Designed for a truly unique and immersive experience, participants will leave feeling inspired to push their creativity. Tutors are handpicked, highly experienced and accomplished artists in their relevant disciplines of portraiture, life casting, abstract expressionism, welding and more. Their passion for the arts and determination to impart their knowledge in an engaging, fun, interactive and supportive setting is what sets them apart.
Participants are treated to a nourishing paddock-to-plate style lunch while taking in the inspiring views of Rosby’s natural surrounds, a guided walk through the renowned sculpture garden and wine tasting with the Rosby vigneron.
Hosted in Mudgee over two days each October, this outdoor sculpture exhibition showcases the works of emerging and leading Australian artists in the stunning country garden of Rosby Estate.
Passionate about the arts and keen to provide a new and unique platform for the exhibition and sale of sculptors' works, Kay Norton-Knight devised Sculptures in the Garden. Since its inception in 2011, it has grown to become one of the Central West’s and regional New South Wales’ most significant artistic events.
Sculptures in the Garden is a not-for-profit organisation set up with the aim to enhance Mudgee’s cultural life through the establishment and development of a sculpture walk in town, and to support local charities. Worth planning your trip to Mudgee to coincide with, this annual event offers sculpture demonstrations, artist talks, garden tours, and a satisfying lunch provided by local suppliers.
